Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner | Medication Minimalist | Golden Retriever Devotee
After decades in the game (since 1990—yes, the same year Home Alone hit theaters), Dr. Laura Hummel has seen it all: serotonin shortages, dopamine droughts, and meds that should work but act like drama queens instead.
Armed with degrees from the University of Delaware, University of Pennsylvania, and a shiny Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama, Laura blends clinical excellence with real-world wisdom. Her motto? Medication should feel like a vitamin, not a villain. If it’s not helping, she wants to know yesterday. Her goal is always to find the most effective treatment with the fewest side effects, because no one has time for feeling worse before they feel better.
She’s passionate about helping people stop suffering silently—and start living fully. Whether it’s stress, sadness, anxiety, or that nagging feeling that something’s just... off, Laura believes there is a solution, and she’ll work with you to find it.
When she’s not at Psych Alchemy adjusting meds or dropping therapy gems, Laura’s deep into genealogy (yes, she probably has built her family tree back to medieval times), growing things in her garden, or being lovingly harassed by her four-year-old golden retriever, Atticus. She also loves a good book and a great movie—bonus points if there's British accents or espionage involved.
Come say hi. She probably already knows your great-great-grandfather’s cousin’s birthdate.
